TV Advice?

I'm needing some help here. Sydney would watch TV all day if I let her. She keeps waking up earlier and earlier in the morning to watch it. I woke up at 5:50am today & she was downstairs with the TV on. Of course, we made her go back to bed, but that's ridiculous! I'm at a loss as to what to do with TV privileges. I can't just hide the remote because she also uses the TV's buttons. I think she's too young to understand a point system. I don't mind her watching some, but if I'm not right there with her, I know where she is. Parked. I try to convince her to do other activities, but she resists. So, if any of you have any advice on what has worked for you, please, do share.

my advice is to unplug the TV from the outlet. make sure she doesn't see you doing it. see if that works. and tell her the TV is broken. but your right 5:30AM is really early to wake up.

The above comment has worked for us. Unplug it when you go to bed! Also another thing that has worked with Madison is I have a green circle and a red circle and put one of the tv with the puddy stuff, let her know it is green she can watch but if it is red she can't. Hope it helps.

We suffer from this problem too. i have done the unplug thing and it really seems to work. I have found that the 1st day is the hardest but each day after that gets better. My kids are happier and start playing on their own more. They use their imaginations and are much more creative. As for the apple sauce. It is really easy. You need to have a food strainer. First you wash and cut the apples into fourths. Load them into a pot and add 1/2 cup of water. Steam them until they get soft. Then start loading them into the strainer (here is what they look like,http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00004SPDX?tag=ehso-20&camp=14573&creative=327641&linkCode=as1&creativeASIN=B00004SPDX&adid=1EHZCM7E1RZAWTD8RTXV&) . It is a really neat machine that seperates the pulp from the stem, seeds, and peel. The pulp is applesauce. It should still be warm from the steaming. Put it into your warm, steralized jars and process. If you need any more pointers give me a call or email 701-356-5401 amberhoffman23@hotmail.com. I made apple pie filling this week too. Really yummy.

I remembered something else. It is best to use a vaiety of apples. It makes it taste better. Try the applesauce before you put it into the jars. If you want it to be sweeter just add a little sugar to taste. But I like it best all natural.

I heard beating your children works. But I guess every body else's ideas work too.

Thanks for all your advice, everyone...including Ollie! Looks like I'll be unplugging the TV for Monday morning & I'll try to red & green circles, too.

I am so glad you said this. I have decided that Conner probably watches too much tv too. So these are great ideas! Thanks!
