Baby clothes

When I was pregnant with Jenna, I pulled out the baby clothes to take inventory & Sydney just had to try on an outfit.  She came out of the room dressed like this.

(And, I HAVE to ask, where did my cute little Sydney go??  She's growing up on me!!!)

Last week, I was again taking inventory & out came Jenna, dressed like this.

(She later wore the outfit that Sydney's wearing above to play with the neighbors.  They told her they didn't like it.)

I'm not sure what the draw is, but Jenna couldn't stop herself from trying on more and more.  I ended up letting them have all of the baby hats, since I never used them anyway.

Earrings

A few weeks ago, I took Sydney & Jenna to get their ears pierced.

Sydney went first.  She was so brave & didn't cry at all!

Jenna, who was the one who originally asked for earrings, went second.

She did not like it!  In fact, after about 15 minutes of negotiating & trying to let us do the other ear, I finally resorted to force & held her arms & head.  She was mad at me for a while.

They now love them & I think they're adorable.

Of course, Jenna refers to her earrings as her "ear pierce".  Too cute.

Motorcycle rides!

The street behind us had a BBQ a few weeks ago.  I suppose we're their adopted street-mates.

After we ate, Scott brought out his motorcycle and gave all of the kids rides.
With all of the kids there, he was at it for a while!

Sydney loved her ride.  I wish I could have captured the grin on her face as she drove by!

Jenna may have been the smallest one to get a ride.  She was a little more worried, but still ended up enjoying it.

We love our neighbors.  Thanks for the rides, Scott!

The ultrasound revealed:

There will be another PINK in our family.

Everything looked good on the baby.  She didn't like all the poking and prodding from the ultrasound & moved around quite a bit because of it.  (Reminds us of Jenna!)   Other than Sydney crying in the office, everyone is happy, even Randy.

Sydney's 6th

Our firstborn celebrated her 6th birthday last week.  How can that be??

Sydney ended up having quite the fun-filled birthday week.
She got her ears pierced.  (Jenna, too.)
We took my sister to lunch, since she shares a birthday with Sydney.
She LOVED all of her presents.
We went to Toy Story 3 as a family.
Cheese pizza and breadsticks were her dinner request.
We invited just a few friends over for strawberry cake & Neapolitan ice cream.

Playing in the tub after opening up her Barbie in a Mermaid Tale doll from Grandma C.

We love Sydney more than words can express, and are so glad that she's our daughter.

Dolls

I know, more sleeping pictures of our girls...but I often peek in at them before I go to bed & just love what I see.

We went to a mother/daughter birthday tea party for a friend's daughter earlier this month, and the girls were able to make their own dolls.

Sydney's such an artist & made an adorable face, complete with a necklace & bracelet drawn on.

I drew a simple face for Jenna's doll.  It was so cute to peek in and see them loving & sleeping with their new dolls!

Waking up

This is what I woke up to one morning in early July.

I love being a mom to these two girls!

I need your guesses!

My ultrasound is scheduled for July 30th--only two weeks from today!  So, since I'm too lazy to create a poll right now, just leave a comment with your guess.

Will we be welcoming our first BLUE into the house, or our third PINK??

Food creations

I walked downstairs earlier to find a formerly full box of Malt-o-Meal spread all over the kitchen table, chairs, and floor.  Was the culprit:

a)  Sydney's imaginary mouse friends...yes, she really does have them.
b)  Jenna
c)  Our new cat...P.S.  I hate cats.

Sometimes, I think I'll go crazy.  Most of the time, I remember that she's only 3 years old.  But I am always thankful for my anti-depressants that keep me from flying off the handle!

The week that wasn't...or was...

Last week's plan:

  1. Keri goes to Girls' Camp as a stake leader, Monday - Thursday.
  2. Randy goes to work, as usual.
  3. Neighbors babysit Sydney & Jenna until Monday afternoon.
  4. My mom arrives Monday afternoon to take care of my kids while Randy is at work until I get back.

What really happened:

  1. I went to Girls' Camp on Monday.
  2. Randy went to work, as usual.
  3. Neighbors babysat my kids until my mom got here.
  4. My mom arrived Monday afternoon
    AND THEN
  5. My mom decided to take my girls, my sister & my nephew up to Idaho to visit another sister and her family from Tuesday - Thursday.
  6. I had a terrible, terrible night of almost no sleep at camp.  I "woke" up not feeling well.  My chest & back hurt, I was clammy & my blood pressure was higher than it normally is.
  7. I came home from camp Tuesday morning & discovered my mom & kids gone.  I slept for 7 hours.
  8. Randy was disappointed that he wasn't a bachelor for 3 days.
  9. I had a stomach bug.  I was sick through Wednesday & a little bit on Thursday.  I was too sick to return to camp on Wednesday, as I had hoped to do.
  10. My girls had a stomach bug.  My mom, a saint, kindly cleaned up their puke.  They felt better after 24 hours.
  11. I felt good enough to walk 9 holes of golf with Randy on Thursday evening...luckily, the bathroom was conveniently located for when my stomach decided to act up for the last time.
  12. We passed on our bug to my mom as she left on Friday morning.

Lessons learned:

  • Things rarely go as planned.
  • I have the best mom EVER!  But I already knew that.
  • Having the luxury of my kids gone while I was sick was probably a once in a lifetime opportunity.  Boy, am I grateful!
