Last year, we planted 4 tomato plants in our garden. This year, I scaled it down to 2 plants. Apparently last year's were poor producers, because this is what I had a few days ago...and nearly all of the tomatoes were from my Early Girl. My other variety has barely begun to produce ripe tomatoes.

Rather than let it go to waste (the quickly-piling-up-tomatoes were stressing me out!), I decided to freeze them. Here's my setup for the whole boil, cool, peel, core, chop into quarters, and pack into freezer container process. It actually went fairly quickly. I think I'll end up doing spaghetti sauce, after all, but having the tomatoes done this far & saving them from rotting will help the process along. Hooray for just doing it when I really didn't want to!

That's great! Doing what we don't want to do when it needs to be done is the story of a successful life I think :). And those tomatoes are beautiful.
Good for you girly!
way to go! You're a real pro at gardening! But, hey we planted one this year---aren't you proud! It's our first one.
That absolutely looks wonderful!!! Good job!
Good job!
Nice yield! Unfortunately, our tomatoes got blossom end rot...turns out our soil is deficient in calcium and other nutrients...we'll have to supplement for next year I guess :( Hey though it's a good learning experience...One day I'll be pulling Chipman-esk veggies out of my garden :)
I'm jealous! My garden is not doing well this year. I have only had 1 ripe tomato. Hopefully it will perk up soon.
I didn't know you could freeze tomatoes. You might need to get me more details on how to do it.
Aww I am jealous. My tomatoes haven't started to ripe at all. I even bought the early girls too. I think I might have to bum off you til they do!!
